Kaden’s Monday

Posted by admin on Monday 28 July 2008

Kaden’s grandpas came to visit today.  Both of them, though at separate times.  He had a pretty big day so he’s finally asleep now, but one of his activities included another photo shoot with mommy.

There are 11 new pictures in the Baby Smith album (click to be taken to the first one).  Below are my favorites.  Check Baby Smith tomorrow for the rest of the pictures and a video from BEER mom.

My dad is in town today and tomorrow but forgot to try a bitter while he was here.  My entire family is coming in a week or two so I will have to force him to try one if there are any left then.

As usual, hit me up if you want one.  I forgot to mention the other day we got more professional photos done as well.  We should have them back and posted by next weekend.

Kaden Swinging

Posted by admin on Sunday 27 July 2008

Kaden has started to be a lot more vocal recently.  Earlier today I was playing with him while he was swinging and took this video for my mom.

He was smiling and giggling for about 10 minutes before finally settling down.  We are working on getting a video camera so we can film better movies of him and a few brewing videos.  This one was taken on my cell phone.

Feel free to contribute to our video camera fund if you feel inclined:

Four Months Old

Posted by admin on Friday 25 July 2008

Kaden turned 4 months old yesterday and finally started holding his head up more. He just learned how to roll over as well.

Laura has new videos of him over on Baby Smith.  Here are a the most recent pictures from the last few days.

As for my beer, I still have just over a case left of bitter. We visited her family last weekend and her uncles tried some and loved it. It is my favorite beer so far, but that could change once my bock is ready.  I’m  planning on starting it in a week or two.

That’s all that’s been going on for BEER mom and me.  I made an addon for Firefox a while back and have been getting quite a bit of traffic because of it over on That Smith.  That led me to having several of our domains appraised which surprised me because BEER dad is one of the higher valued.  We do get quite a bit of traffic here though too.

Bitter Countdown

Posted by admin on Monday 7 July 2008

After an eventful weekend, our Bitter is finally bottled and conditioning, and will be ready in another week.  I’ll spare the details of the process, because bottling this beer went exactly the same as the other 5 times.

We ended up with 72 bottles, but opened one to take the ending gravity to determine the alcohol content.  The bitter ended up darker than I thought it would, but I was aiming for an amber color anyway so I guess that counts as a success.  It is just over 5% alcohol, which is fairly strong compared to other pale ales.  It is light brown in color and seems to have a lingering aftertaste like the coffee beer.

Kaden eating cereal

Kaden just tried eating cereal for the first time.  It wasn’t anything too exciting, but he did seem to like it.

Baby today, Beer tomorrow

Posted by admin on Friday 4 July 2008

The bitter is almost done, so we will probably bottle it late tomorrow. Today we celebrated Kaden’s first 4th of July by taking his mom out to lunch, which she says it benefits him just as much as her.  We also took several new pictures with him.

He recently learned how to squeal and how much fun it can be making noises.  Here is a video of him from last night.

The new pictures are in his photo album.  A few of my favorites are the one of him dressed for work..

Him working hard at his desk…

Trying out his new snugli after a hard day’s work..

And me and him relaxing…

He’s started sucking on whatever he can find as well, so we were both covered in baby drool after that last picture.  It’s just something that comes with parenting I guess.
