What to brew next?

Posted by admin on Sunday 24 August 2008

Once again I need help deciding what I should brew next.  I’m leaning towards porter, which is similar to stout but not as dark. I have also been contemplating a pale ale.

We will begin the next brew the week of the 1st through the 5th.  That will make it ready to drink or bottle the weekend I get back from Chicago.

Amber Bock

Posted by admin on Sunday 17 August 2008

My 7th brew is ready and is awfully tasty.

Amber Bock

I haven’t had bock before so I can’t compare it to anything, but it does taste lighter than my last few beers.  It’s good so I will make it again in a few months.

Baby Teeth

Kaden having tummy timeComing soon to BEER dad and family: baby teeth.

Kaden started teething this week and has been a grump since.  BEER mom was pretty unhappy about it the first few days, but he’s starting to get used to it and so is she.

This puts him right on schedule with other babies his age.

Additional photos from this week follow.

Homebrew Amber Bock

Posted by admin on Saturday 9 August 2008

We bottled the amber bock last night and are now patiently awaiting it’s arrival in our fridge.  In the process I was forced to finish my bitter so I would have enough bottles.

I will be beta tasting the bock later this week and will be researching how to make a good wine because my and BEER mom’s 2nd anniversary is just around the corner.

My amber bock will be about 6% alcohol when it’s ready.

Pitcher of Amber Bock

I brewed some amber bock this evening.  Now let’s just hope it will look as nice as the Amber Bock pictured when it’s ready.

Parenting. Is. Awesome.

Posted by admin on Friday 1 August 2008

I haven’t talked much about what it’s like to be a new parent so hopefully the title of this message will get the point across.  Parenting is awesome.

First, I should update that Kaden had his 4 month doctor’s appointment the other day.  He is now 13 lbs 9 oz and is 24.5 inches long.  That’s a huge improvement since he was born, but still places him in the 25th percentile for his age, or at the size of a 3 month old.

As for parenting, I was looking forward to being a parent, but never expected it would be this amazing.  If you have a child, you probably remember what it was like the first time you saw him or her, and every moment after that until they grew up.  Laura and I often have trouble putting him down because we don’t want to miss a moment of his adorable smile.
